Ich wurde am 6. Mai 1871 als einziges Kind des Landschaftsmalers Carl Ernst Morgenstern (Sohnes des Landschaftsmalers Christian Morgenstern) und seiner Ehefrau Charlotte Schertel (Tochter des Landschaftsmalers Josef Schertel) in München geboren und erlebte in unserm gegen Nymphenburg zu gelegenen aller Kunst und heiteren Geselligkeit geöffneten Hause mit parkartigem Garten glückliche, eindrucksreiche Kindheitsjahre.
