Book cover

The New Ideal in Education by Nikolaj Velimirović is an insightful and thought-provoking examination of the current state of education and a proposal for a revolutionary shift in the way we approach learning. With his exceptional insight and passion for educational reform, Velimirović presents a compelling argument for the urgent need to reevaluate and redefine our educational systems.

One of the standout features of this book is Velimirović's candid and unapologetic criticism of the existing educational paradigms. He fearlessly points out the flaws in conventional approaches, highlighting how they fail to nurture critical thinking skills, moral values, and a sense of purpose among students. His analysis prompts the reader to question the traditional models of education that often prioritize rote memorization and regurgitation of facts rather than fostering true intellectual growth.

Velimirović does not, however, dwell solely on critique. He offers a well-rounded vision for an alternative educational philosophy that is based on principles such as active engagement, holistic learning, and the cultivation of moral and ethical values. His ideas are supported by comprehensive research and real-life examples, making them both practical and grounded. The author also emphasizes the importance of nurturing individual creativity and encouraging curiosity, as well as fostering a student-centered approach that values collaboration and community.

Additionally, the book explores the vital role of teachers in this new educational paradigm. Velimirović argues that educators should not only be knowledgeable in their subjects but also act as mentors and role models for their students. He encourages teachers to develop a genuine connection with their students, fostering a sense of trust and respect that is crucial for effective learning to occur.

Despite the depth and complexity of the subject matter, Velimirović's writing style is accessible and engaging. He presents his ideas with clarity, using vivid language that effortlessly conveys his passion for education reform. The book is well-structured, with each chapter building upon the previous ones, leading to a cohesive argument and overall thesis.

In conclusion, The New Ideal in Education is a highly compelling and persuasive work that challenges the status quo and presents a refreshing approach to education. Velimirović's ideas, backed with extensive research, have the potential to transform our educational systems and nurture students who are not only knowledgeable but also morally upright and intellectually agile. This book is a must-read for educators, policymakers, and anyone interested in rediscovering the true essence of education.

THE NEW IDEAL IN EDUCATION.

By Father Nicholai Velimirovic, Ph.D.

"Nature takes sufficient care of our individualistic sense, leaving to Education the care of our panhumanistic sense ."

Ladies and Gentlemen,

If we do not want war we must look to the children. There is the only hope and the only wise starting point. It is not without a deep prophetic significance that Christ asked children to come unto Him. In all the world calamities, in all wars, strifes, religious inquisitions and persecutions, in all the hours of human misery and helplessness, He has been asking, through centuries, the children to come unto Him. I am sure, if anybody has ears for His voice to day, amidst the thunderings of guns and passions and revenges, one would hear the same call: Let the children come unto Me! Not kings and politicians, not journalists and generals, not the grown up people, but children. And so to day also, when we ask for a way out of the present world misery, when we in profundis of darkness to day ask for light, and in sorrow for to morrow ask for advice and comfort, we must look to the children and Christ...
