The Law and the Lady by Wilkie Collins is a gripping tale of intrigue and mystery. The story follows the journey of Valeria Woodville as she sets out to uncover the truth behind her husband’s mysterious past. As she delves deeper into the secrets and lies surrounding her husband, Valeria finds herself caught up in a web of deception that threatens to destroy everything she holds dear.
Collins does an excellent job of building suspense and keeping the reader engaged throughout the novel. The plot twists and turns keep you guessing until the very end, and the characters are well-developed and complex. Valeria is a strong and determined heroine, and it is refreshing to see a female protagonist take charge of her own destiny in a time when women were often marginalized.
Overall, The Law and the Lady is a compelling read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Collins’ writing is both engaging and thought-provoking, and the novel touches on important themes such as justice, morality, and the role of women in society. If you enjoy a good mystery with a strong female lead, this book is definitely worth checking out. Book Description: |

Reviewer: Sherry - February 1, 2018 Subject: Another great story from this author! Excellent story and I had no problem with the reader - thought she did a great job! Enjoyed listening very much! The serialized type of novel leaves you wanting more at the end of each chapter- hard to stop! |
Reviewer: Tamara - January 6, 2016 Subject: Good story I cannot hear While I appreciate the time and effort of the readers, I truely wish they would think about the listener. I can't continue listening to this story. Rapid fire speech, rapid long sentences means I do not as a listener get to comprehend 1/10th of the story. Will have to wait until another reader records this. Sad.. sounds like a good story. |
