Het boek heeft als ondertitel: 'Avonturen der eerste Hollandsche luchtschippers' en doet in stijl een weinig denken aan Jules Verne die een tijdgenoot van Heijermans was. Alleen maakt Heijermans van zijn verhaal een komedie.
