Cuando los españoles llegaron al Archipielago Filipino, encontraron que sus habitantes de raza malaya llamados Indios, tenian sus alfabetos y su manera de escribir própia.

Si bien su estudio parece poco interesante, porqué tal escritura està hoy por completo abandonada y olvidada, y porqué no existen libros ni monumentos con inscripciones antiguas, es sinembargo, curioso y útil para la historia de aquellas islas, historia tan descuidada y tan poco conocida que, apesar ó por lo mismo quizás que de ella se ha escrito mucho, está aun por estudiar y hacerse.
