The story is not a joyous one and it was quite hard for me to read in the first part because of it's harsh nature but in the second part of the story it was easy to follow and was quite interesting. |

Reviewer: Sarah T. - May 31, 2013 Subject: Wuthering Heights Ruth Golding is an outstanding reader, obviously a trained voice actor...wish there were more such outstanding voice readers. My only gripe with her reading is the interpretation of Cathy's voice and character; she makes her sound rather silly and idiotic, almost like one of the screeching women on Monty Python's Flying Circus. I've always thought of Cathy as having a bit more gravitas. As for Joseph, his speech is rendered in the book as a kind of dialect, and it's meant to be difficult to understand to modern readers I suppose. All in all, this is possibly the best recording I have managed to find. As good as anything you would pay for. |
