Buccaneers and Pirates of Our Coasts |
---|
Buccaneers and Pirates of our Coasts is a non-fiction, rolicking story of the origins of piracy and of the famous pirates of the coasts of the United States. The stories don’t cast pirates in the glowing light of modern day renditions – in Stockton’s stories, pirates are bad guys! – but the dramatic style makes them good fun to read, anyway! Reviewer: Earnest B - September 7, 2020 Subject: Written in 1870 Provides an understanding of how things were viewed in the late 1800's. Nicely narrated and enjoyable. |
Reviewer: Amanda - April 13, 2019 Subject: A very progressive book This book is a woke American progressive's dream book. It manages to "subtly" criticize aspects of American history from a safe distance of about a couple hundred years in the future, while managing to maintain a facade of respect for the historical figures involved. |
