Around the World in Seventy-Two Days |
---|
This is a true account by American woman journalist who, in 1889, set out to see whether she could beat the fictional journey in Jules Verne’s 1873 novel, Around the World in Eighty Days. Wearing one dress and carrying one handbag, Elizabeth Cochrane Seaman (pen name “Nellie Bly”), reported her travels back to avid readers in America. |

Reviewer: PJ - October 15, 2015 Subject: Nellie Blye - great every time. Great book. Interesting in the fact, the era it was written. A single woman alone. The chivalry of the men who treated her with respect yet went with her as a male presence. Canton is a bit graphic when detailing tortures for criminals. I have listened to this 3 times. The reader is excellent!! I recommend. |
