One Out of Ten by J. Anthony Ferlaine is a thought-provoking and captivating novel that delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and the fragile balance between hope and despair. Set in a dystopian future, the story follows a group of individuals known as the "Ten," who have been chosen to represent the remnants of humanity in a highly controlled society.

What sets this book apart is its innovative narrative structure. Each chapter is dedicated to one of the Ten, shedding light on their past, present, and the struggles they face within the confines of their society. This technique not only gives depth to the characters but also creates a rich tapestry of interconnected stories that seamlessly blend into a larger narrative.

Ferlaine's writing style is both poetic and evocative. The detailed descriptions effortlessly transport the reader into the dystopian world, making the setting come alive. The author's ability to capture the characters' emotions and internal conflicts brings an emotional depth that is truly immersive.

One Out of Ten is not simply a tale of survival; it is a profound exploration of the human condition. Through the experiences of the Ten, Ferlaine explores the universal desire for meaning and connection in a world plagued by isolation and detachment. The characters are relatable and well-developed, each grappling with their own personal demons, crafting a story that tugs on the heartstrings.

Additionally, the book brings up thought-provoking philosophical questions about the nature of power, control, and individuality. It prompts readers to contemplate the consequences of a society-dominated by a few, the loss of personal freedoms, and the potential fragility of civilization.
