One Of The 28th - a Tale of Waterloo |

I recently read a historical novel set during the Napoleonic Wars titled One Of The 28th - a Tale of Waterloo by George Alfred Henty. The story follows the journey of a young British officer, who is part of the 28th regiment, through the harrowing battles leading up to the famous Battle of Waterloo.
Henty does an excellent job of immersing the reader in the world of early 19th-century Europe, with vivid descriptions of the battle scenes and the political climate of the time. The protagonist is a relatable and courageous character, whose growth and development we witness throughout the novel.
The pacing of the story is excellent, keeping the reader engaged and eager to turn the page to find out what happens next. The battle scenes are particularly well-written and filled with suspense, making you feel as though you are right there on the battlefield alongside the characters.
Overall, One Of The 28th - a Tale of Waterloo is a gripping and well-researched historical novel that will appeal to fans of military fiction and historical fiction alike. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in this period of history or simply looking for a thrilling and immersive read. Book Description: |
