What a fantastic down to earth summation of what it was like in those days. True pioneers. Very well written and humble. Narration was perfect for this subject matter. A must listen for history buffs.

It is Ok, I found the 'flying/fighting action' a bit repetitive but then I am not militarily orientated. The narration was good however I felt the pauses between 'paragraphs' were not necessarily always in the right places and that the narrator was certainly proud of his compatriots efforts.

This book gives a straight look at the air war of the time. Rickenbacker doesn't glamorize any of the action. In fact, he credits his survival in many instances with plain luck. And if you wondered if they really talked back then like they did in the movies, listen to this book. I loved every chapter. I would love to see the film Rickenbacker was involved in shooting right after the war.
